19 yachts applied for the VIIIth Unity Line Regatta

Although there is still quite a lot of time to the VIIIth Unity Line Regatta, 19 yachts have already applied, 17 of which are German. German sailors like having the sailing season planned in details that is why their applications, the Polish on the other hand apply in the last days before the start. The regatta, let us remind you, will take place from the 15th to the 17th of August.
The organisers of the regatta: Unity Line and AZS Yacht Club in Szczecin ask for making the applications as early as possible, as the regatta has developed very much within the last eight years. It is important for the organisers to know whether they are to prepare the finals of the regatta for 300 or maybe 500 sailors. It also arises specific preparations to receive the yachts and sailors in the ports of Kołobrzeg and Świnoujście.
The first to apply was a solitary sailor Henryk Kałuża on the yacht "Harry" from the AZS Yacht Club. In the group of solitary sailors they have also applied: Ralf Pritzkow from Berlin on the yacht "Seba", Edward Zając from Ustka Yacht Club on "Holly" and Holger Freude from the Peene Anklam Yach Club on "Strumvogel II". Ralf Pritzkow is a disabled sailor and still he sails superbly on a big 10-metre-long yacht, which is usually served by 5 sailors. For his fortitude last year he received "Kurier Szczeciński" Cup. Edward Zając sailed by himself from Ustka and back. He received for his achievement Cup of Polish TV. Another person who also applied to this group is Silvio Schaffner on "Baumstark" from SSC Ueckermunde.
Solitary sailing is undoubtedly an extreme sport. We have great traditions in organising this kind of events in Szczecin. This is the place where Kazimierz "Kuba" Jaworski, Krzysztof Baranowski, Jerzy Siudy and many other sailors started from.
In the group of definitely professional sports character with the IMS conversion unit, there has applied the yacht "Express" with its captain Andreas Jager from SSC Wolgast. Undoubtedly it will greatly heat up the atmosphere of competition in this group.
With the regatta conversion unit KWR, there has applied the yacht "Kailua" with the captain Waldemar Skuza from Wittower Segeinverein. Waldemar Skuza is a very active regatta organiser on the territories of Germany and Denmark. Thanks to his information about regatta there have applied the German sailors.
In the oldtimer group there will start: "Wappen von Anklam" with the captain Ronny Neukirch of SSC Anklam and "Beyond" with the captain Andreas Rohe. Built in 1953 "Wappen von Anklam" with the captain Ronny Neukirch won in 2007 regatta in the same group. We are awaiting the application of the oldest Polish yacht 102-year-old "Nadir" of AZS Yacht Club.
Among the yachts without conversion units and of length over 10.5 metres, there have applied: "Laleu" with the captain Hernig Dressler from RSV Riemse. In this group there will also start "Ullysses" with the captain Mirosław Lewiński, who intends to set off for a cruise around the world this year. We looking forward to his application.
In the group of yachts of length between 8.5 and 10.5 metres without measurements, there have applied 4 yachts: "Intrepid" with the captain Winfried Ziske from Pomersher Greif Ueckermunde, "Ruden" with the captain Klaus Helms from YC Ueckermunde, "Manati" with the captain Lutz Bramer from SSC Ueckermunde, and "Alex" with the captain Manfred Friese. The "Manati" yacht with the captain Lutz Bramer back in 2006 was the first German yacht taking part in the regatta.
Among the smallest yachts, of length up to 8.5 metres without measurements, there will start: "Quatro" with the captain Mattias Koppen from Kohnscher Kanal Ueckermunde, "Biggi" with the captain Gerhard Steinmann from YC Ueckermunde, "Feria" with the captain Bernhardt Hartmut from SV Starlsund, and "Kiekut" with the captain Jurgen Rohl from YC Ueckermunde.
